Vaccination rollout for seafarers in Durban

05.10.2021
As the first on the African continent and a first in South Africa, the Port of Durban declared the availability of Covid-19 vaccines (Pfizer) for both local and foreign seafarers on August 19, 2021.

In close conjunction with local agent Mentor Shipping and authorities, Odfjell Mazibuko took the necessary steps to get the ball rolling and ensure that seafarers in the Odfjell fleet who wished to take either their first or second dose would get the opportunity to do so.

When Bow Flower called Durban as the first Odfjell vessel after the announcement, 21 crew members got their first dose of the vaccine on September 13, 2021. Since then, vaccine rollout has been done for several of our vessels' crew which have been calling Durban.

"A milestone in Africa and foremost ensuring the safety and well-being of our crew who serve Odfjell with the utmost dedication"
