Update from Bow Spring: Crew members recover at quarantine hotel as ship departs the Maldives

09.12.2021
The two crew members who tested positive with Covid-19 are doing much better as Bow Spring, manned by a new set of crew, departed Male.

A total of two colleagues on board Bow Spring got infected with Covid-19 and experienced mild symptoms. Both of them are vaccinated and are currently recovering at a quarantine hotel in Male.

A full crew change was performed on Bow Spring on December 4 following Maldives regulations which allowed for only two options: to be quarantined for another 14 days or change the full crew. The rest of the crew are now undergoing a five-day hotel quarantine. After that, most will join other ships, but some will go home. This quarantine period was originally a required 14 days, but thanks to assistance from the Norwegian council, the Maldives’ authorities agreed to reduce the time frame.

After ship sanitation was completed on December 4, Bow Spring departed Male late that evening.

Many thanks to the captains and crews for their professional handling of this situation, and a special thanks to the replacement crew for their flexibility and solidarity to step up and change their plans so the ship could get back in operation.
