In a vibrant symposium held on April 25, Odfjell’s Singapore branch embarked on a deep dive into the realms of decarbonization, energy-saving devices, and the future of maritime technology.

The event, attended by top-tier maritime trainees, was led by the trio: General Manager Zaidi Mohd, Senior Ship Broker Khalil Talib, and Ship Broker Kjell H. Christensen, under the moderation of VP Technology Erik Hjortland.

The 60-minute discourse explored the horizons of alternative fuel sources, emphasizing the vital need for a holistic decarbonization strategy. Unveiling Odfjell's understanding of renewable energy, the speakers elucidated the company's forward-thinking techniques aiming at reducing the AER trajectory, leaving the audience enlightened and appreciative of the fresh perspectives.

The event, while teeming with intellectual stimulation, also offered a delightful spread of sweet donuts and freshly brewed coffee. Attendees engaged in energetic brainstorming sessions, further delving into the topics presented, creating a dynamic hive of innovative thought.

Menon Economics lauded the discussion, expressing that their trainees found the insights particularly valuable, emphasizing the urgent need for energy efficiency and zero-carbon fuels.

Highlighting that the event seamlessly blended expert presentations, networking opportunities, and in-depth group discussions, further demonstrating Odfjell's commitment to nurturing the next generation of maritime professionals. This event marked another successful stride in Odfjell's journey toward a decarbonized future, Zaidi concluded:

“As the discussions seeped into the Norway night, the consensus among attendees was clear - Odfjell's commitment to continuous learning and evolution, and our place at the forefront of industry innovation and advancement, was undisputed.”

The symposium was part of the Singapore Maritime Week, an annual gathering of the maritime community. Among the multiple seminars and events was also the Norwegian Embassy's 'Norway Night' dinner, where the guests were treated to some very nice Odfjell wines.
