I regret to inform you that we have received information that two of our on-boarding seafarers have received positive Covid-19 results after a routine “quick test” upon arrival in the US. Both colleagues have been in isolation waiting for the test results since the tests were performed. They are in good health and show no clear symptoms.
We are treating both cases as real until a new and more advanced test has been conducted. We have also implemented a number of mitigating actions to reduce the risk of potential spreading should the results be confirmed. These include isolation, social distancing, disinfection, use of protective gear etc.
The crew members are on-signers on Bow Elm and Bow Flora. Bow Elm is underway to Spain, expecting to arrive Algeciras on July 10. Bow Flora is currently in Houston.
We cooperate closely with relevant local stakeholders, health and port authorities. Our top priority now is to take the best possible care of our colleagues on board. Both ships are followed up closely by the teams in Manila, Houston and Bergen to ensure their well-being and to give support in the precautionary actions on board.
Our seafarers follow strict regulations to avoid spreading the virus. This they have successfully done since the outbreak of the pandemic was first known in January. As soon as we received information about the two suspected cases, further measures were routinely and immediately activated.
If you have questions or receive any inquiries, please forward to your Master.
