It was a day filled with gratitude, unity, and pride in being part of something greater. For Ma. Joanna Rey R. Corro, this celebration symbolized more than just an anniversary:
“As an Engine Cadet, I’m proud to be part of a movement that says no to stereotypes and yes to opportunities. I’m grateful to our senior engineers — C/E Baterna, C/E Tungal, C/E Lasola, 2/E Napilot, 2/E Macairan, 2/E Salazar, 3/E Doronila, and 3/E Gemal — for treating me with respect and professionalism. Their mentorship and support allow me to grow without barriers or biases.
I also want to thank Capt. Avila, Capt. Rios, Capt. Ebal, C/O Tan, C/O Parica, C/O Nazar, and C/O Lobaton for creating safe spaces for women in STEM and fostering inclusive environments onboard. To my colleagues, who’ve been like big brothers since day one, thank you for making this journey smoother.
Happy crew, happy ship indeed!”
