Electricity is essential for both life and work on board. It powers the engines that allows the ship to sail, the machinery that enables us to fulfill our obligations to our clients, and the equipment that support our individual and personal needs. But it also poses hazards, chief of which is fire.
The new safety campaign aims to avoid fires from electrical devices through imparting knowlege, increasing awareness, and promoting a proactive attitude. It calls on seafarers to power up for safety.
An interactive program has been designed to achieve the campaign's goals, and will be distributed to the vessels on Week 37. The campaign will run for three months from date of launch to allow vessels the flexibility of scheduling the activity at their most convenient time.
