Chair Laurence Odfjell led the recognition rites for the colleagues at Odfjell US, who have a combined total service time of 217 years at Odfjell:
- Petter Maasoe, Commercial Manager, 40 years of service
“Celebrating 40 years and counting! Petter has worked in most aspects of our business; as an agent, for the Terminals, and many years in Tankers. Odfjell has been a family affair for the Maasoe’s, and Petter is trademarked Odfjell and instantly recognizable most places that he goes. The question is whether he is a Norwegian Texan or a Texan Norwegian. Thank you for a career well spent with Odfjell.”
- Olav Næss, Commercial Manager, 35 years of service
“Olav has worked for us in various roles in Bergen (2 years), Tokyo (3 years), Saudi Arabia (3 years), Singapore (4.5 years), then back to Tokyo (5 years), onto Hamburg (6 years), Bergen (6 years), and Houston. He was Director of Chartering for Odfjell-Ahrenkiel and MD for Crystal Pool, and is now Commercial Manager here in Houston for the Asia Pacific Trade. Thank you for your wise counsel and steady eyes on the USG trade.”
- Anup Chatterjee, Commercial Manager, 30 years of service
“Anup started with Odfjell India 1993. India has always been a very important market for Odfjell, in the early years for the acid trade for fertilizers which helped to re-position our ships into the Middle East for chem exports. Odfjell needed a strong local team to deal with the acid imports and growing chemical imports and exports. Anup was very much part of that local team in the early days. The move to Houston came in 2007. Congratulations on reaching 30 years with Odfjell.”
- Denise Schaefer, Manager Documentation and Regulatory Compliance, 25 years of service
“Denise has first-hand experience sailing and with the most difficult of cargoes: human beings. She sailed for 3 years with Royal Caribbean cruise lines before joining P&O in a shore-based role in customer service. The P&O Nedlloyd merger saw Denise looking for a new challenge and she joined Odfjell in 1997 as our Documentation and Quality Manager. Luckily for us, we got there before Exxon who offered her a job one week later. Luckily for Denise she took the job with Odfjell as it was the Bow Cardinal that played cupid and the reason that she met and went on to marry her husband! Thank you for these 25 years.”
- Alexis Colon, Contract Administrator/Chartering Executive, 25 years of service
“Alexis joined Chemical Tankers of America directly from high school. That was back in 1998. She’s now in her 25th year and counting, working for Odfjell. Thank you!”
- Stacie Allen, Senior Documentation Specialist, 22 years of service
“Thank you for your diligence with all of the Bills of Lading, Manifests and custom documentation. Definitely one of our unsung heroes, working quietly in the background to keep the vessels moving. We appreciate your dedication and ability to deal with customers who all wanted their Bills of Lading yesterday.”
- Mathew Russell, Ship Broker, 20 years of service
“You joined us fresh-faced as a driver in 2002 and have since seen your career progress through your roles with Agency, Barging, Port Operations and Chartering. It always brings pleasure to see people who progress through our organization, particularly with operational experience and clear knowledge and understanding of our vessels.”
Øyvind Møvik is also one of the 20-year awardees, but could not attend the ceremony due to travels. Congratulations to all!
