“Dear colleagues,
2021 is coming to an end and it’s time for me to wish everyone in Odfjell a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
2021 turned out to be another challenging year for Odfjell. Our two main challenges were that our markets were not favorable, and that we continue to be challenged by Covid-19.
Covid-19 is not only an operational challenge, it is also very much a safety issue. There is no starker reminder of that than the three tragic losses of lives that we had during 2021. Please join me in honoring their memories.
We are entering 2022 as a stronger company. Despite all the challenges of 2021, we continue to operate well, and we continue to operate efficiently. We are also more optimistic about the markets. We still have to work hard, but I believe that 2022 is looking brighter. At least we are more optimistic than we were last year.
What is not looking more optimistic at the moment is the Covid situation. This is something that we have to live with, and I urge you to not let down your guards. Covid has affected all of us in different ways. In my personal case, Covid has made it difficult for me to visit my family in Copenhagen the last couple of years. So as you can see, I am recording this with the help of my family because we decided to travel here this Christmas to be together.
I also hope that you have a chance to be with your family this holiday season. I know of course that those of you who are on board our ships and operating the terminals are unable to be with your loved ones, and I appreciate the sacrifices you are making for the company.
No matter where you are, whether it is with your families, on board our ships or with your colleagues, I truly wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. And never forget: Safety first, so please stay safe.”
