Running for sustainable seas

03.07.2025
Odfjell Manila joined thousands of maritime professionals at the 16th FAME Fun Run on June 21 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City, Manila. This year’s theme, “Go Marino Go! Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” highlighted the link between wellness and a sustainable industry.

Among the 30 colleagues who showed up representing Odfjell were Capt. Randy Allan Cabiao, Capt. Luisito Cantona, and our Bow Fitness Coach Edson Jabson, who ran alongside 27 Manila-based shore staff in a great time where sea and shore moved as one.

Why we ran

  • For our crew. The event came just days before Day of the Seafarer (June 25), reinforcing our belief that well-being is a core part of safety.
  • For our goals. FAME’s focus on sustainability, rights, and welfare mirrors the values we carry onboard and ashore.
  • For each other. Shared training, finish-line photos, and early morning cheers built more than stamina–they built stronger teams.

More than a fun run

  • Every participant went home with a singlet, reusable bib, and finisher medal—but the impact went further:
  • Proceeds from the event support seafarer assistance programs.
  • Crew and shore staff who trained for the race are now organizing weekly runs.
  • The race brought attention back to the people at the heart of the industry—and how we stay strong together.

“Thank you to the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment for a well-organized event, and to everyone who showed up for health, unity, and a greener future,” said HR Coordinator Ann Janeth Lamano.
