Odfjell’s IT team was invited by Amalie Skram High School to give a presentation and host a stand at their apprenticeship fair in January. Amalie Skram is one of the largest high schools in Western Norway, and Odfjell has enrolled several apprentices and an intern in the IT operations field these past years. (If you missed it, check out Henrik Nepstad’s story here).
Application Support Consultant Frode Sørheim reports on a successful day featuring the career opportunities at Odfjell:
“This was a great opportunity to showcase our company and present ourselves to high school students. We wanted to highlight that we are an exciting apprenticeship company where they can learn a lot during their training period.
We decided to make a strong impression by bringing our two apprentices, Niki Bayatbarouni and Torgrim B. Pedersen, as well as former apprentice Henrik Nepstad.”
At a different location, the Sotra Arena, Manager Crewing NVE Eva Storeide and 2nd Officer Malin Gåsvær Haugen represented Odfjell at an event where companies from all sectors gather to present themselves to families in our region.
Eva reports on a packed house and loads of interested teenagers. It is quite rare that parents are included in these events, and many expressed interest in the maritime industry.
In the past few weeks, events lined up well: Malin represented Odfjell at two career events, and February will begin with the Maritime Bergen event, “An Ocean of Opportunities”, gathering around 200 teenagers for a full-day introduction to the maritime industry.
