Office Review by Shell

The headquarters in Bergen enjoyed the visit of three ship management experts from Shell earlier this month. They came to review all aspects of our performance as ship managers.

This review addresses a total of 13 elements of management. Examples are, among others:

  • Recruitment and management
  • Wellbeing of shore and vessel personnel 
  • Navigational safety
  • Cargo and bunkering operations
  • Environmental and energy management
  • Maritime security


It is vital for our customers to ensure that Odfjell performs well. For this important audit, the team in Bergen was reinforced by personnel from the Maritime Personnel Section in Manila, and was well prepared for the review. The visitors were happy to see that Odfjell is a well-performing ship manager.

The visitors from Shell also contributed by sharing good practices from other players in the market.

The conclusion of the review is very good news for Odfjell — and for our customers: We have climbed one step on the performance ladder.


This status means that Odfjell can now be “considered for Shell Group business including limited Period Charter”.  This is a strong result and accreditation, and will mean more cargo on our ships!

Late November, Chevron will pay us a visit to do their review of our performance. We are well prepared, and look forward to showing them the quality work that is performed on board and ashore.
