Odfjell'ers join the Nasdaq closing bell ceremony at the NY Marine Money Week

01.07.2022
CEO Harald Fotland, CFO Terje Iversen and VP Corporate Analysis Bjørn Kristian Røed are just back from the Marine Money Week in New York, reporting of positive feedback from known and new investors, speaking assignments and networking with the shipping finance community. One event stands out as quite extraordinary: Seeing the Odfjell logo featured on the Nasdaq wall at Times Square.

Marine Money Week is the largest annual gathering of 'the most active dealmakers in global ship finance.' The sessions focused on shipping's vital role, including market outlook and our industry's role in energy transition and decarbonization.

Evidently, the hoi polloi of ship finance had missed this opportunity to meet and greet in person. The event gathered 700 delegates from across the globe, among them our three colleagues.

Harald Fotland was on stage and presented Odfjell under the headline 'A Privileged Glimpse into Industrial Velocity', and took part in a plenary session on 'Product & Chemical Tankers: These workhorses of the complex global CPP markets provide exposure and insight into economic activity.'

The Odfjell team also met with various investors, banks and analysts during their visit to New York, and reports of very positive responses to our current platform, operations, ESG work, financial and strategic priorities.

As part of the event, Nasdaq hosted Marine Money for its iconic Closing Bell Ceremony signaling the market close on 21 June. The event was dedicated to the 2021 "Deal of the Year" winners, where Odfjell was awarded the Norwegian Bond Deal of the Year for our Sustainability-Linked Bond.

At the Nasdaq event, Marine Money's Chair Jim Lawrence said:

"Time moves on, but the importance of shipping and the shipping industry remains the same. (..) We celebrate this afternoon the continuous creativity demonstrated by our deal makers of the year, our industry (..): To the health and welfare of the world: You keep the trade flowing, showing fundamental responsibility and meeting challenges of an ever more efficient fleet. Your constancy deserves our congratulations. The challenges of the seas and trade never seize, and our service to the world literally never stops."
