Now in its 12th year, marking the annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work has become a consistent part of Odfjell’s operational calendar, supporting our company’s long-term safety goals.

In 2025, the International Labor Organization (ILO) explores “Revolutionizing health and safety: the role of AI and digitalization at work”, a theme that resonates strongly with the realities of modern seafaring.

Across the fleet, seafarers take part in structured onboard sessions beginning April 28. This year’s materials prompt discussion around a new layer of safety: identifying manipulated content, resisting misinformation, and staying attentive in digital spaces.

The program is facilitated by the Captain, using a dedicated presentation and guide available on the SM portal. The content is divided into four main parts, each combining discussion and activity:

  • [A]I Care explores how AI contributes to the workplace and community, accompanied by a digital well-being checklist.
  • [A]I Share examines how AI affects what we see online, with the interactive Pose, Pause, Post exercise reinforcing the importance of thoughtful sharing.
  • [A]I Scare addresses the misuse of AI in scams and manipulation, paired with the Trust or Sus activity that encourages visual scrutiny.
  • [A]I Got the Power closes the session by summarizing key learnings and inviting crew members to create a collective “commitment word cloud.”

Each segment is designed to reinforce a broader message: that safety involves both physical and mental vigilance. By encouraging sharper attention to digital influence, the campaign aims to build stronger decision-making and personal awareness among the crew.

Masters are requested to send a brief report along with high-resolution photos or videos of their vessel’s participation to media@odfjell.com by May 15.

Select highlights will be featured across internal channels and social media platforms. Feedback from the crew will also be gathered through a post-event survey to improve future campaigns.
