The annual trade group summits are a year-long tradition in Odfjell, and a valued arena for the Tankers trade teams to plan the next steps.

This occasion also marked the first summit for the recently established Asia trade group, led by newly appointed Vice President Thomas Macody Lund. Three out of five trade teams were summoned this time and for the two trade teams in the western hemisphere similar summits will take place later this fall.

The trade group summits usually include presentations from the regional managers, sharing updates on trade flows, competitor activity, existing business as well as updates on new business opportunities.

With the Odfjell Compass as foundation, the groups gather for roundtable discussions to set the key targets for the future. To meet the rough markets head-on, the groups go through a critical evaluation of current services to uncover improvement potential and further decide on strategic targets.

When the summit participants were gathered at Odfjell HQ CEO Kristian Mørch and Global Head of Tanker Trading Bjørn Hammer gave an overall presentation of Odfjell’s current financial and operational position and outlined the most significant market trends for our industry. The floor was open for questions and comments, and the take away between the participants was that this was a very useful and positive session.
