Odfjell welcomed more than 30 international delegates to our Bergen headquarters as part of the ISPIM Innovation Conference. The visitors represented a range of industries, all with a shared focus on the future of innovation.
Kicking off the session, Manager Fleet Performance & Digitalization Kristoffer Ramstad gave an overview of how digitalization is accelerating innovation across Odfjell’s operations. Project Manager Jan A. Opedal followed with a deep dive into the Bow Olympus suction sail installation and other onboard technologies reducing our environmental footprint.
VP Corporate IT Alena K. Pedersen closed the program with a live demo of ODI, our AI chatbot, and Copilot–highlighting how artificial intelligence is already supporting daily work at Odfjell.
Jan continued the momentum the next day at the Wista x AON Summer Event, 2025 where he presented Odfjell’s green shipping journey before joining a panel discussion with AON Norway’s Head of Marine Hull Einar Samset and DNV’s Head of Section for Business Development Elisabeth Drægebø.
At the same time, VP Technology Erik Hjortland joined the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association’s Kongsberg Arena summit. Representing Odfjell, Erik shared results from our suction sail project and provided an update on our wider decarbonization efforts–reinforcing our long-term commitment to measurable impact and sustainable innovation in shipping.
Erik has also been interviewed by the ship.energy podcast, where he presented Odfjell’s decarbonization strategy and latest results. Listen to it here (free, but registration is needed):
