Odfjell rolls out updated Social Media guidelines

Odfjell has released updated Social Media guidelines to help colleagues navigate online spaces responsibly, whether posting from personal accounts or engaging in professional conversations. The guidelines reflect the evolving nature of digital platforms and highlight the shared responsibility employees carry in protecting Odfjell’s reputation, integrity, and security.

The new guidelines cover a wide range of practices, from respecting confidentiality and avoiding inappropriate content to maintaining professional boundaries when accepting paid promotions. They serve as a reminder that our individual digital footprints can impact ourselves and how Odfjell is perceived. 

Key reminders include: 

  • Representing Odfjell with integrity in all public-facing posts 
  • Avoiding the use of company resources for personal or third-party promotional content 
  • Protecting confidential information about Odfjell, the clients, and operations 
  • Securing online accounts through cybersecurity best practices 

The guidelines also set expectations around separating personal and professional accounts, responding to negative feedback, and seeking consent before posting content featuring colleagues, partners or clients. Employees are encouraged to consult the Communications team if unsure about the appropriateness of a post or if they are contacted by the media.
