This year’s event was particularly significant as it formed part of the year-long celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME). Additionally, the fun run served as a post-activity for the International Seafarers’ Day, celebrated annually on June 25.
Under the theme “Milestone Run,” this year’s event allowed participants to reflect on FAME’s rich history and legacy over the past five decades. The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia as runners of all ages took part in the 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM races, celebrating both the 50th anniversary of FAME and the 15th year of the fun run.
Special activities and surprises were organized to commemorate these significant milestones. Participants enjoyed an engaging experience, enhanced by the spirit of camaraderie among members of the maritime community. The event not only promoted physical well-being but also highlighted the importance of mental health, aligning perfectly with this year’s theme.
The annual fun run also served as a fundraising campaign for FAME, supporting its various projects and advocacies. The proceeds will aid in promoting seafaring as a viable and rewarding career path and in fostering a sense of unity within the maritime sector.
“Our participation in this event shows our commitment to the welfare and development of seafarers. We actively support initiatives that celebrate and strengthen our maritime community,” said Shared Service Centre Head Vanessa Medina on a quick post-run interview.
