Last Saturday, July 6, Odfjell Philippines hosted the grandest Crew and Family Well-Fair event of the year at Citadines Bay City Manila, recognizing the loyalty and service of our seafarers and their families.

The day commenced with a message from Agnes Enesio, President and General Manager of Odfjell Philippines. She shared insights into the company's recent achievements and provided updates on future plans, setting a positive and optimistic tone for the day.

The highlight of the weekend was the 25 Years of Exceptional Loyalty & Service Awarding Ceremony. We were honored to celebrate the unwavering dedication of fifteen of our exemplary seafarers. Read more: Odfjell Honors Outstanding Seafarers at Crew and Family Well-Fair 2024 Manila.

Captain Gary Carace, one of the awardees, delivered a heartfelt message on behalf of the group, expressing his gratitude for the recognition:

“Beyond career milestones, Odfjell has provided me with a sense of belonging—a global family united by a shared passion for maritime excellence. The friendships forged onboard and the camaraderie shared during challenging voyages have enriched my life beyond measure.”

“As I stand before you today, celebrating 25 years of loyalty to Odfjell, I am filled with pride for all that we have accomplished together. This journey has been marked by moments of triumph and challenges that have tested my resolve. Through it all, Odfjell has remained steadfast in its support, providing the tools and opportunities necessary for me to succeed,” Captain Gary continued.

Florence Napilot, wife of awardee Glen A. Napilot, then took the stage to share an emotional tribute to the families of our seafarers, acknowledging their vital support and resilience:

“Our sacrifices are immense, and our unwavering support is truly inspiring. The encouragement, love, and faith we provide empower our husbands, to perform their duties with peace of mind, knowing they have a loving family to return to. This partnership is a testament to the strength of marriage and family, and we recognize the vital role we play in their success.”

Following the award ceremony, our seafarers attended a Crew Safety Workshop led by Captain Jerry Cadianza, Compliance Auditor, and Hyacinth Sharma, Competence Administrator from the Compliance and Competence Department. This workshop showed Odfjell’s unwavering dedication to the safety and competence of our people.

Simultaneously, while our seafarers were engaged in the workshop, their families participated in an enriching talk titled "Balancing Acts: Nurturing Relationships and Mental Health," hosted by Paul Egia, CEO of Alternation OPC. The talk provided insights and strategies for maintaining strong, healthy relationships and mental well-being.

After the workshop and talk, everyone reconvened in the main function hall. Crew Planning and Training Manager Marites Villena led the introduction of the Maritime Personnel Services Department. Each of the team members explained the roles they play in supporting our seafarers, from document processing to vessel assignments. Our guests were also treated to a dance number by CFA Officer Lorraine EFA and Documentation Coordinator Raylord Magalonga.

Towards the latter part of the afternoon, Ardie Marcelino, Information Officer II from PAGIBIG/HDMF, provided an informative session on the benefits, services, and products offered by HDMF/Pag-IBIG Funds, ensuring our attendees are well-versed in the government's support programs.

The event concluded with a closing message from Ms. Olive De Vera, Crew and Family Affairs team lead and organizer. Ms. De Vera expressed heartfelt thanks to all attendees:

“I want to express my deepest gratitude for your participation. Thank you to all the seafarers who attended, despite your busy schedules, and to all the families who are here with us today. Your presence and active participation have truly made this event a success. I hope you found this event informative and inspiring.”

The Crew and Allottee Conference is held five times over a year and a half in various locations across the Philippines, aiming to recognize the invaluable contributions of our seafarers and their families. The events offer relevant updates and activities and are valued arenas for our crew and family to be updated and be connected with other Odfjell’ers.
