Odfjell HQ now powered by renewable energy

29.02.2024
Our headquarters in Bergen leads the way in sustainability practices by utilizing 100% renewable energy to power the entire office.

The lights, computers and coffee machines in our Bergen office are now fueled by hydropower—a small change that makes a big difference.

This shift to renewable energy will be a welcome development to our Global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Report. This report, compiled every year, provides a snapshot of our environmental impact, focusing primarily on our carbon emissions. It’s our way of being transparent and accountable to our stakeholders.

The Three Scopes of Emissions

Scope 1 Emissions
These are the direct emissions from our own activities. Think of the carbon emissions from our vessels. We track these closely and work to minimize them wherever possible.

Scope 2 Emissions
These emissions are related to the electricity we consume. We report on the electricity we combust and the energy mix used for its production. This includes both non-renewable (like fossil fuels) and renewable (like solar and wind) sources.

Scope 3 Emissions
These are indirect emissions—those generated by our supply chain, business travel, commuting, waste, and other activities beyond our immediate control. While we can’t eliminate them entirely, we actively collaborate with our partners to reduce their impact.
