Odfjell Global Safety Day 2019

17.04.2019
On April 26th, Odfjell offices, terminals and ships will observe the Global Safety Day with the theme 'Safer, Effective and Digital – the Future of Work'.

Odfjell's Global Safety Day is in line with the celebration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work by the International Labor Organization (ILO) on April 28th. Odfjell offices, terminals and ships will host the Global Safety Day on Friday, April 26th.

Our theme for this year, “Safer, Effective and Digital – the Future of Work", is aligned with ILO's Global Safety Day theme, which is “Safety and Health at the heart of the future of work”.

"As the ILO states in its introduction to the safety campaign, human suffering caused by poor occupational safety is largely preventable, which is something I very much agree to. Planning, awareness, good processes, etc. will definitely improve safety," said CEO Kristian Mørch.

"We can ALWAYS improve, and I encourage you to use the opportunity of the Global Safety Day to discuss how we can further raise awareness, improve processes and make sure that we can truly embed our safety culture into every job we do, every day – no matter how many times we have done it before."

Kristian Mørch

Each business unit, location and office site plans the Odfjell Global Safety Day under this theme with local adjustments. On board Odfjell vessels, the focus will be on hazard identification and use of proper personal protective equipment, work and height and falling objects, and digital tools.

Bow News will have a special section on Odfjell Global Safety Day in the next issue. Vessels are encouraged to send a few sentences or bulleted highlights of their Safety Day celebration, as well as high-resolution copies of photos to bow.news@odfjell.com. Video submissions are also welcome and may be coordinated with bow.news@odfjell.com to facilitate an efficient transfer of files.
