The Ministry reached out to Odfjell as part of the government’s work on a major competence reform project headlined ‘Lifelong learning’. The meeting at Odfjell marked the end of a full day seminar held in Bergen. In this preceding seminar, the Prime Minister and three Ministers met with 80 regional organizations and business leaders to gain input on competence challenges and future requirements.
“We must avoid that the technological development pushes more people into unemployment. It is important for financial and social sustainability that we create an inclusive society. We must make sure that those already working receive the correct training and continued education to stay in their jobs for the next 10, 20, 30 years.”
Minister Jan Tore Sanner
Odfjell was the only company visited by the government representatives. For the meeting, the Minister was accompanied by his State Secretary, Political Advisor, Director General and Head of Communications. Øistein Jensen and Harald Fotland presented Odfjell’s specialized seafaring and industry competencies, and discussed the core expertise and skills that will be vital for our operations moving forward. The Minister also got to personally test our in-house VR solution, demoed by VP IT Torbjørn Lussand and Manager IT, Tom Hagesæther.
