Odfjell in the Philippines (OiP) is moving to a new location for two main reasons: first, the lease contract with Atlantis Beacon Tower will expire by the end of the year, so the management took the opportunity to explore a safer and more convenient location that meets our increasing requirements; and second, Odfjell has decided to exit the minor ownership share in Atlantis Beacon Tower Corporation (the real estate company that owns the current building), a move reminiscent of the sale and leaseback of the headquarters in Bergen.
"As stated in the Odfjell Compass, chemical tankers and terminals are our core business. We are not a real estate company," explained Chief of Staff Øistein Jensen when the news was announced to OiP employees.
OiP will occupy the fifth floor of WMall Macapagal, a six-level commercial building in Macapagal Blvd corner Coral Way, Pasay City. The first four floors of the building comprise the "mall" portion, while the two upper floors are office spaces.
With the building located near the airport and the Norwegian Training Center (where we send our crew for some courses), the new office will be more accessible to OiP's stakeholders. It will boast a modern space equipped with more sophisticated facilities to provide Odfjell seafarers a better 'reporting' experience.
The new location is also a stone's throw away from the Mall of Asia complex, so there will be more dining and hangout options especially for family members who visit the office or accompany the reporting crew.
