New Fleet Management System to be implemented in 4Q2020

As a step in the continuous improvement of work processes, INFOR will replace STAR Information System during 4Q2020, representing a major shift for fleet management onboard and ashore. The new platform will be tailored to support and improve collaboration and work processes within our organization.

The new platform will replace our current solutions within Maintenance and Asset Management, Safety Management (Inspections/Audit), Procurement Management, Project & Dry Dock, and Inventory and Stock Control Management.


Why replace STAR:

  • STAR has been used for almost 20 years. It is now falling behind and does not exploit the opportunities of new digital technology.
  • Stability, quality of technology, performance and functionality are lagging, resulting in reduced management control and inefficiency in daily operations.
  • Odfjell’s needs and ambitions are surpassing the opportunities within the STAR system.

 

 

The INFOR platform was selected after a thorough review of more than 20 potential suppliers, followed by a pilot project to test the feasibility of the solution. The goal was to secure that this platform fits Odfjell’s requirements in the long term, and INFOR answered to our business and technology objectives:

Business Objectives

  • Improve collaboration and communication
  • Improve maintenance management and asset lifecycle control
  • A holistic view on inventory and stock control
  • Support fleet projects and align technology projects with the operation
  • Improve procurement processes, overview and follow up

  • Reduce the number of databases and applications supporting current Star solutions
  • Real-time interaction between vessels and office with a cloud-based solution
  • Support the IT strategy and fit the holistic Cloud approach

In the months to come, the platform will be adjusted and fitted to Odfjell’s different needs. The first launch is planned for September, with batches of seven to ten vessels at a time. INFOR is expected to be fully operational in Odfjell by the end of the year. Before, during and after launch, support will be available for users onboard and ashore.
