In an ever-evolving world, where innovation and sustainability lead the charge, Odfjell's endeavors resonate with a clear vision: creating a harmonious blend of heritage, partnership, and future-forward thinking.
The recent Annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner was more than just a gathering; it was a tapestry of tradition and partnership. Odfjell hosted around 35 distinguished guests; customers, owners, brokers, port authorities, banks, financial investors and others.
The event spotlighted the culinary treasures of Norway, where star chefs wove magic using Norwegian fish, accompanied by our very own and iconic Odfjell wine. But it was more than a celebration of gastronomy; it was a window into the rich Norwegian culture, an embodiment of the connection between Norway and Singapore.
This year, while some of our regular clients were attending the EPCA in Vienna and couldn't join the festivities, it paved the way for new faces. This shift provided an excellent opportunity to introduce more clients and partners to this spectacular event, fostering fresh relationships and strengthening our community.
In today’s fast-paced world, such gatherings are of significant value. They offer an intimate platform, away from boardrooms and offices, where we can truly connect with our customers, understand their aspirations, and share our vision. And Odfjell, deeply rooted in its Norwegian heritage while embracing global partnerships, stands at the very heart of this confluence.
The dinner was a testament to the trust, understanding, and collaboration we've nurtured over the years, painting a vivid picture of our dedication to our partners and global connections. As part of the eventful days, the Odfjell team held several fruitful meetings with selected customers and partners to strengthen our relationship and open up new business opportunities.
The Singapore Norway Innovation Conference 2023 (#SNIC) – Innovate to Zero encapsulated our forward-thinking ethos. As discussions revolved around green technology, carbon capture, and the roadmap to a carbon-neutral fleet, a vital revelation marked the event.
Our Chairman, Laurence Odfjell, succinctly captured our ethos:
"Investing in emissions reduction devices is not only good for the planet, but it is also good for business. In Odfjell, we started investing in fuel efficiency long before the Paris Agreement and we have done so based on this being good for our bottom line. And if something is good business, then it can also get financed.”
Odfjell was honored with the Best Adopter of Technology Award, recognizing our relentless pursuit of technological and sustainable advancements.
Further, Alma Clean Power, Odfjell, and DNV unveiled plans for a solid oxide fuel cell system on a chemical tanker by 2024. This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainable maritime operations. Read more about the project on Odfjell.com.
The Innovate to Zero Conference was a canvas of ideas, collaborations, and recognitions. As we reflect upon these moments, we're reminded of our duty to lead, innovate, and sustain.
The Chair’s words encapsulate our mission ahead:
For many shipowners or operators, there is still plenty of low-hanging fruit in terms of energy efficiency and readily available emission reduction technology. Go harvest.
With heritage as our anchor and innovation as our sail, Odfjell is charting a course toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
