In memory of William B. Ambrosio

11.09.2018
CEO Kristian Mørch honors the contributions and memory of William B. Ambrosio.

On August 8th, we experienced an event that overshadowed everything else: the passing of a co-worker after a tragic accident on board one of our vessels.

Our loyal and esteemed colleague William B. Ambrosio served as an Odfjell Seafarer for almost 32 years – a total of 38 contracts since he started his seagoing service in 1986. By that, he is one of the pioneers of Odfjell in the Philippines.

William B. Ambrosio will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues in Odfjell. I want to express my sincere gratitude for his valuable contribution to Odfjell from the day he first set foot on an Odfjell ship in 1986. My heartfelt condolences go to his family.

I will also use this opportunity to address safety. Chemical tanker operations demand vigilance and highly specified competence. I believe we have the very best seafaring team. We have loyal, competent and dedicated colleagues on board our vessels and their daily work on board is one core reason for why Odfjell holds a world-leading position in our industry. But we cannot relax. Safety is and should always be our number one priority!

Safety is not about yourselves alone, it is about how you care for each other, how you work together as a team and how you plan and carry out the daily operations. I hope that every time you set out to work, you remember this and do your best to make safety an integral part of the culture on board our vessels. Let us all work together to make sure that the lessons Mr. Ambrosio left us will always be remembered.

Stay safe!
