Dear colleagues,
It is with the deepest regret we share with you that our esteemed colleague, Motorman Godofredo Abiera Diana, passed away on October 11 at 15:51 local time in Antwerp.
Godofredo Diana tested positive on a quick test on October 7. His condition was closely monitored and his symptoms were reported as moderate to mild up until the afternoon of October 10, when his condition suddenly critically deteriorated. He was airlifted to hospital, but sadly passed away shortly after arrival. Such rapid deterioration is not typical for Covid-19 and the hospital has not confirmed whether the passing was due to Covid-19 or other sudden causes. He was 52 years old.
Godofredo joined Odfjell on May 25, 1995. He worked diligently as motorman throughout his career and was awarded for his 25 years of loyalty in 2020. He was a hardworking seafarer and supportive co-worker, always ready to help people around him. His warm personality was highly regarded among fellow seafarers on board the vessels he served as well as by colleagues ashore.
We are grateful for his valuable contributions to Odfjell throughout his career, and deeply saddened by his tragic passing. Our highest priority now is to secure that his family and colleagues are cared for. The Covid-19 team works together with Crewing to ensure that all matters are handled in the best way, and that his wife and two children are closely supported in this trying time.
Our heartfelt condolences go to Godofredo’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.
Yours sincerely,
Kristian Mørch, CEO
