It is with the deepest regret we inform you that Third Engineer Erik Johan Thorvaldsen was found lifeless in his cabin onboard Bow Spring on Wednesday, January 8. The passing is not work-related.
Our priorities now are to secure that his family is cared for, and that the Captain and crew onboard receive the best support during these challenging times.
Erik Johan Thorvaldsen was hired as 3rd Engineer on June 15 last year, and has previously sailed with Odfjell as a trainee onboard Bow Spring from 2014 to 2016, followed by a period as cadet onboard Bow Flora. Thorvaldsen’s home was in Randaberg, Rogaland. He was 23 years old.
We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to his family, his friends, and his colleagues. We are all moved by this tragic news, and deeply saddened by the passing of an esteemed colleague.
