It is with the deepest regret we inform you that Bernardo Dela Jr., Fleet Electrician Engineer, has passed away due to complications from the Covid-19 virus.
Our colleague was diagnosed with the virus on June 9, and received intensive care treatment at the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital from June 15. He quietly passed away on Saturday, June 26. Dela Jr. was 57 years old.
Bernardo M. Dela Jr. worked with Odfjell for 29 years, and was one of the 25-year awardees in 2017. He started his career in Odfjell in November 1992 as Electrician, and was appointed Fleet Electrician Engineer in 2012. Throughout his time with Odfjell, he always performed well above average. We are sincerely grateful for his valuable contribution to our company throughout his career. He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.
Odfjell's Covid-19 Response Team now cooperates with health authorities, insurance partners and other relevant authorities to ensure that all matters are handled in the best way possible. Our priorities are to secure that Dela’s family is cared for and closely supported in this challenging time. They are naturally deeply affected by this tragic fatality, and need time to grieve.
We are all moved by this tragic news, and deeply saddened by the passing of an esteemed colleague. We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Dela’s family and friends.
