Global Safety Day 2018 at the Terminals

04.07.2018
Odfjell Terminals took the day to reflect on how they can improve their focus on safety, service, and security.

“We must ensure that if we do have an incident, that we are learning and improving our organization through finding the root cause and implementing a sustainable solution. Excellence in Execution goes farther than just operational tasks, but in all aspects of our organization.

As we continue to strive for Excellence, we will become an organization known for our Excellence in Execution which is evidence by dedicated and satisfied customers who are engaged on all levels, and with transparency throughout our organization. Safety and customer satisfaction go hand in hand.”

Odfjell Terminals Houston (OTH) invited Brad Livingston as keynote speaker. He is a survivor of 18 surgeries after two explosion accidents at work. He motivated the team to work safely every day for the right reason: "Just a second ago is all it takes to change your life forever, maybe even end it. Just a second ago is all it takes for you to raise your hand and say; 'Wait a minute, I don't think this is safe”.

The celebration in Odfjell Terminals Korea (OTK) zeroed in on excellence, and in particular, on how to enhance the safety culture and mindset. The OTK team developed a safety pledge to ensure that the excellence mindset is embraced by all, throughout the organization.

Odfjell Terminals Dalian (OTD) focused on risk awareness and safety knowledge to ensure that we drive the positive safety culture momentum within the organization. Apart from presentations and speeches from top management, the celebration also featured a safety knowledge competition where teams competed on performing risk assessments.

In Odfjell Nangang Terminals Tianjin (ONTT), personnel was reminded to perform daily tasks with the excellence mindset, and to do the right things, in the right way.

Doing the right things in the right way was also emphasized as Odfjell Terminals Jiangyin (OTJ) gathered employees, specially invited customers and contractors. Through the mantra 'Think Safe, Act Safe', OTJ reinforced that Odfjell Terminals does everything safely – or not at all.

At Odfjell Terminals Rotterdam’s (OTR) Global Safety Day, the management spoke about how, through excellence, everyone in Odfjell can drive the culture in the right direction. OTR also brought in contractors and vendors with whom the employees discussed safety, efficiency, and security.
