20.01.2025
Odfjell’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment was reflected during CEO Harald Fotland’s recent visit to the Manila office. Harald sat down with Deck Cadet Nicole Ashley Canindo, Engine Cadet Marie Roxanne Ruiz, and Messwoman Catherine May Malia to engage in an open discussion about their experiences in the maritime industry so far.

The conversation addressed topics such as harassment awareness, adapting to a male-dominated workplace, and ensuring safety onboard:

“This meeting showed the importance of creating a workplace culture where everyone feels heard, valued, and safe,” Harald emphasized. “Listening to our cadets' experiences helps us better understand their needs and ensure that they thrive in their careers with Odfjell.”

The cadets expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to share their perspectives. “It was exciting to have this conversation,” shared Deck Cadet Canindo.

“We felt heard and supported, and it showed how committed Odfjell is to inclusivity and ensuring everyone feels safe and valued.”

General Manager of Odfjell in the Philippines Agnes Enesio shared:

“As the maritime industry evolves, so does Odfjell’s commitment to building an inclusive environment where all seafarers—regardless of gender—can excel. Conversations like these are vital steps toward making the workplace safer, more respectful, and empowering for everyone. By promoting dialogue and addressing challenges head-on, we continue to set a standard for inclusivity and care within the industry.”
