Apart from operational subjects, covered by Flumar and Bergen employees, the seminars had two main focus areas: vetting and human behavior. Both topics are closely linked, frequently controversial and gave cause for a lot of productive discussion. It was quickly realized that language is no barrier when you want to ask difficult questions. The first seminar was held in December, the second in January.

The seminars were also an opportunity for representatives of the recently taken-over Pacific fleet to get to know the fundamentals of our operation and mix with the Brazilian Flumar Fleet.
Flumar is a diverse operation, with multiple languages, cultures, and processes in one tightly packaged unit. As such it is critically important that the ships and the onshore organization function as one integrated unit with effective and unambiguous communication. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about shore-based operations, and to understand the issues and difficulties that shore faces on a day to day basis, particularly when dealing with our customers on vetting issues.
During the seminar dinner on December 6th, Chief Engineer José Eldon de Araujo Lima from Bow Oceanic was celebrated for his 30th Flumar Anniversary. Ole Svendsen expressed Flumars’ gratitude that we have such a dedicated professional in our team, and who, despite the challenges faced over the years as Flumar has grown and matured, continues to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety onboard.
