Flumar holds first Officers' Conference of the year

04.07.2023
Held on June 20-21 in São Paulo, the event served as a venue for discussion, knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and celebration.

Fifteen seafaring colleagues from Fleet Flumar joined colleagues from Bergen and São Paulo for the two-day event, formally opened by Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Torger Trige.

The first day was designated as OpTech Day. The morning's presentations focused on the SM Portal, and the new reporting mandates under MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Annex VI, the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI), and the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).

In the afternoon, a workshop on lifting safely was held, encouraging participants to raise questions, discuss challenges, and share best practices.

The day was capped off with a formal dinner, where Captain Marcelo Degobi was honored for 25 years in service.

Captain Marcelo Degobi started out as a Cadet late 1995. He embarked in the Old Flumar vessels, Angelin, Araucaria, Jatai and Jacanrandá. In 2008, he was promoted to Captain, and has commanded our vessels for 15 years and counting. Under New Flumar (Flumar/Odfjell), he has served on board Bow Oceanic, Flumar Brasil and Flumar Maceio.

An evening of celebration

Day two was dedicated to Operations, so the discussions centered on port performance, port operations, and vessel performance. The participants were also reminded of the importance of the timely and accurate reporting of data not only in complying with the new regulations, but also in the achievement of our climate goals.

Always nice to see colleagues from various offices together in one photo
