The cadets received their diplomas during the 28th Commencement and 21st Recognition Day Exercises of DMMA College of Southern Philippines on January 23 at SMX Convention Center in Davao City, southern Philippines.
While this year's graduates are already the 25th batch of cadets under the Odfjell-Norwegian Shipowners' Association (NSA) Cadetship Program, they are the first to receive their education at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines. The students entered college in 2019 but had a six-month gap during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the batch produced outstanding graduates whose grades all qualified for Latin honors.
“Congratulations to the first graduates of Odfjell cadets from DMMA College of Southern Philippines! You have triumphed over all the hardships and challenges during your three-year stay at school and one year of shipboard training. You all entered the cadetship program as boys; now, you are all grown-ups and responsible gentlemen.
Purse your dreams as successful Captains and Chief Engineers, or even as Shipping Executives. Be focused, loyal and grateful—first to our Creator, to your parents, to the school, the NSA, your company Odfjell and to all the people who shared their wisdom, time, knowledge and experience with you. Be humble, and keep your feet on the ground. Always look back and remember who you are and how you started your career. Lastly, be a Polaris to lead people to the right direction. God bless, and always be safe."

The cadets are now processing their documents to be ready to be back to sea and gain more knowledge and experience in preparation to be a responsible Odfjell Officer in the near future.
