End of year greeting from chair Laurence W. Odfjell

22.12.2020
Chair Laurence W. Odfjell greets the Odfjell organization at the end of an extraordinary year that put us all to the test.

Dear colleagues at sea and ashore,

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. On behalf of the board and my family, I would therefore like to address you and thank everyone for extraordinary efforts in an extraordinary year. This is a year that has put us all to the test, and it has truly showed the strength and resilience of the global Odfjell team - on our ships, terminals, and offices. Unique. Everyone has delivered beyond expectation – thank you!

Most important of all: We can look back on a strong safety performance.

We have a minimal number of Covid-19 cases in our worldwide organization, which is quite remarkable considering the situation in our surrounding communities. As the vaccines roll out, we need to stay alert so we continue our strong track record. But we see the light in the end of the tunnel.

The crew change challenge has been on top of our agenda since March. There has been extra pressure on our colleagues at sea because of this. It has been complex, difficult and frustrating to maneuver. Thanks to Crewing for tireless work to find solutions. With more and more governments now defining seafarers as essential workers, we expect to see a significant improvement moving forward.

Therefore: A special thanks to all seafarers who have shown exemplary diligence to the call of duty. You and your family’s sacrifice under these very demanding circumstances are inspiring. You are the core of our operations - we could not have delivered our good results this year without you.

Back to all of you: Through your world-class work, expertise and energy, we will most probably deliver our best financial results in more than ten years. This is nothing but exceptional, and a result of joint and solid efforts throughout our organization. We are impressed, proud and grateful.

I have the joy to be able to spend the holidays with my family. A special greeting to all of you that do not have such an opportunity.

To all of you, I wish you and your dear ones a safe and happy holiday season. You have made us stronger in 2020, so that we can all face 2021 with confidence. To your health and success in the New Year. BE SAFE!

Happy holidays from Odfjell'ers around the world:
