The whole-day activity was led by VP Maritime Personnel Torger Trige, who also welcomed all the participants. The morning was spent on presentations about general financial information, salary comparison between Odfjell and its competitors, and non-monetary benefits.
For the presentation on Odfjell SE's second quarter financial results, the crewmembers joined the general meeting for OiP employees.
The group discussions were held in the afternoon. Trige, together with VP - Head of Crewing Agnes Enesio and Crewing leaders, sat down with each of the groups (Management Level Officers, Operational Level Officers, Petty Officers and Ratings) to attend to and discuss the seafarers' feedback and suggestions on their compensation and benefits.
In all of the group sessions, Enesio encouraged all the participants to take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions, clarify issues, and give suggestions directly to Trige. Among the matters raised by the seafarers were the salary for electricians, cash advance requirements, and long vacation, to name a few.
The crewmembers expressed their appreciation of the discussion and how it has encouraged open and honest communication between ship and shore. Trige, on the other hand, thanked the seafarers for their time, and for their honest feedback and suggestions.
For the eighth year running, the Crew Salary Discussion has served as means for both the seafarers and the management to discuss feedback on crew salaries and benefits.
