VP Maritime Personnel Torger Trige welcomes participants to the Crew Salary Discussion

VP Maritime Personnel Torger Trige welcomed the participants, who are mostly Salary Discussion first-timers. He took a moment to briefly discuss the Bow Sun incident and remind everyone of Odfjell's number one guiding principle: We do not compromise on safety.

One of the most important presentations had been the Salary Comparison between Odfjell and its competitors, which showed our company's transparency when it comes to our finances, and Odfjell’s commitment to ensure that our seafarers' compensation is well within the average in the market.

"We can be proud of the salary level we are giving our seafarers."

The VP MPS presented Odfjell's second quarter and first half results as well, acknowledging the hard work everyone at sea and onshore does to make the company profitable.

Also covered in the meeting were some general financial information and non-monetary benefits for the crew.

In the afternoon, the VP MPS, together with Odfjell Philippines, Inc. President Captain Remigio Zamora, VP - Head of Crewing Agnes Enesio and the rest of the Crewing leaders met with each group to discuss any suggestions or concerns the seafarers may have regarding their compensation and benefits.

Second Officer Willy Garonia, who has attended this kind of meeting in the past, expressed his appreciation of the whole-day activity:

"I like the open discussion, and how the company makes an effort to involve us in things like this. It is also good to be aware of our benefits, and to learn what Odfjell does to take care of us."

For the seventh year running, the Crew Salary Discussion has served as a means for both the seafarers and the management to discuss feedback on crew salaries and benefits.
