The program was formally opened by VP Maritime Personnel Torger Trige, who welcomed sea- and shore-based colleagues, and family members, to the event. He encouraged his fellow Odfjell’ers to continue working hard as the company moves forward towards the future.
Global Head of Ship Management Geirmund Drivenes presented key information about Odfjell and shared some recent company developments. He emphasized three important aspects of Odfjell's operations: not compromising on safety; ensuring the quality of our services by complying with customer requirements and delivering their products safely, on spec and on time; and keeping our costs competitive and sustainable.
The Global Head also led the Awarding Ceremony for 16 seafarers wo have been in service for at least 25 years. Trige, OPI President Captain Remigio Zamora and VP Head of Crewing Agnes Enesio joined him in awarding tokens and certificates to the loyal Odfjell'ers.
Close to 80 Odfjell Seafarers participated in the Safety Workshop opened by Zamora and facililtated by Manager Ship Audit Captain Marlo Salayo, Marine Manager Captain Jan Ove Ødegård and VP Risk Management Harald Bauck.
As in the previous conferences, the workshop commenced with group discussions to identify hazards in common tasks on board, and the corresponding personal protective equipment.
Each group presented their output, and from time to time, someone from the crowd would elaborate on a topic by sharing an insight, a best practice, or an experience.
The family members were also divided into groups and were assigned to brainstorm and propose measures on how the familiy can deal with financial challenges and natural disasters.
The Manila Allottee Officers led the sharing of insights that followed the group discussions.
The event was summed up by Zamora, who, in his closing remarks, reminded the seafarers to look out for one another especially when they are on board.
