On June 1, five of the Bow Lind engine crew onsite at ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard) in Bahrain have tested positive for Covid-19, some of whom were experiencing slight symptoms. Subsequent tests showed more colleagues getting infected, and as of June 18, 30 of 31 crew have tested positive.
The infection has affected Bow Elm, also currently at drydock in the same yard. Twenty-one of 24 crew have tested positive as of June 18.
At the moment, 17 who have tested positive early June have now tested negative, while seven have been admitted to a hospital for further medical treatment. The rest are in isolation hotel and experiencing mild symptoms.
The Covid-19 response team continues to ensure that all our colleagues, both on site and those in isolation, receive the best support and care in this challenging situation. This is done in cooperation with health authorities, the yard, local representatives and agents, P&I and other relevant resources. Several initiatives have also been implemented to support and help ease the situation.
