Sustainability is a strategic focus area for Odfjell, and an area with increasing importance and priority across the world. We have had sustainability on the agenda for several years, and we are today regarded as one of the industry’s leaders in this field.
Sustainability initiatives and results will be vital for a company’s success in the coming years, but most importantly: Our work and contributions in environmental, social and governance issues (ESG) will be beneficial for the climate, society and people.
Safety is the number one priority in Odfjell. Operational safety is managed within Tankers, Ship Management and Terminals, and per today the different departments have different systems, procedures and reporting. We see a need to coordinate the company-wide safety work and continue building on our already strong safety culture.
We want to ensure that sustainability and safety are fully aligned in the organization, and that Odfjell upholds and further strengthens the position we have among stakeholders. This requires focus and resources in our organization as a whole and priority within top management.
To fully leverage the potential and progress of our work on sustainability, safety, security and compliance, we therefore introduce a dedicated chief sustainability officer position and have appointed Øistein Jensen for this role.
“Our appointment of a Chief Sustainability Officer reflects our firm commitment to ESG and the responsibility we take as a global operator. We are pleased that Øistein Jensen has accepted this challenge. Sustainability is an important focus area for Odfjell, and we have ambitious targets for the coming years.”
- Kristian Mørch, Odfjell SE CEO
As Øistein Jensen takes on the CSO position, we have further decided to not continue with the Chief of Staff role. Consequently, some corporate functions are moved and reporting lines changed:
The MOO function was established to coordinate Ship Management, Tankers, Terminals and Corporate in our largest foreign management offices. We have had MOOs in the US, Singapore, Philippines and South America respectively.
As administrative matters are now handled by the local managers in the different locations and coordinated within the line organization, the MOO role has become less relevant. From today, managers who have held the role as MOO in the international offices will consequently report to the relevant Corporate leaders at the headquarters.
The employees who are directly impacted by these changes have been informed and involved earlier in the process. These organizational changes have been implemented since August 20. For questions, please contact any member of Executive management or HR.
