As Laurence and his family stepped on board the Bow Cecil at Stolthaven #2 terminal in Singapore, they were met with a warm reception from Captain Cantona and the entire crew. The surprise and excitement of meeting our Chair for the first time in the year echoed throughout the ship.
The visit included a lunch, providing an informal setting for discussions and reflections on the journey of the Bow Cecil and the contributions of the crew. Laurence's keen interest in the vessel's operations was well-received by the crew.
The program continued with a comprehensive tour of the ship, covering key areas such as the engine room and the bridge. During the tour, the guests engaged with all ship personnel, excluding those on duty, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the crew's valuable services and contributions to Odfjell. Laurence highlighted the company's achievements, including the newbuilding program in Japan for TC ships and the commendable performance in meeting GHG emission targets.
Looking ahead, Chair Odfjell shared insights into the company's future plans, emphasizing a newbuilding program set to commence in the next 12 - 24 months. This program aims to create vessels that are not only environmentally conscious but also capable of utilizing green fuel. The timeline for implementation is dependent on the viability of green fuel technologies.
The visit concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing the crew to engage directly with Laurence. A group photo session followed, where some crew members seized the opportunity to request personal photos.
Reflecting on the visit, Captain Luisito Cantona expressed:
"I believe everyone on board was thankful and glad that the Chair and his family visited us on board, and it’s an experience we’ll remember."
In response, Laurence reciprocated the enthusiasm:
"We loved it. My son says he wants to visit again!
The crew seemed content and competent - this inspires and energizes me. The ship looked good, and the fine lady is over 25 years old!"
