The third Captains' Workshop in this year alone was a fruitful exchange of expectations from shore management and insights and expertise from leaders at sea.

“You are among the most important resources of Odfjell.”

This was how Global Head of Ship Management Geirmund Drivenes welcomed the Captains to the whole-day workshop, emphasizing the critical role of the masters in bridging the organizations ashore and at sea.

The first part of the workshop focused on updates on key policies and initiatives within the company, among them: the new Drug and Alcohol Policy, newbuildings, and preparations for IMO2020. The 12MAP cost control concept was also discussed, which included a demo of the new 12MAP tool by Business Controller Rhodalyn Flores.

In the afternoon, Drivenes and VP Maritime Personnel Torger Trige led the thorough discussions on the fleet's vetting and safety performance since last year. The Captains all had suggestions on how to prepare the ships for inspections, and on how to avoid accidents on board.

The day ended with both the facilitators and participants expressing their appreciation of the fruitful session.

The first Captains' Workshop was held in January, while another one was conducted as part of the Officers' Conference in Manila in February.
