Annual MSG and Port Captain Seminar gathers teams in Bergen

07.05.2025
From April 7 to 11, Odfjell’s Marine Support Group (MSG) and Port Captains convened in Bergen for the annual Port Captain Seminar, an important platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The seminar opened with a welcome from CEO Harald Fotland, followed by updates from each Port Captain and the MSG team, who provided insights into ongoing activities and developments across their areas of responsibility.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of sessions designed to strengthen cross-functional collaboration:

  • On Tuesday, Port Captains joined trade groups and attended a presentation by Gard P&I titled “Commingling & Blending: Are you covered?” alongside colleagues from Operations.

  • Wednesday’s agenda included discussions with Ship Management before the group traveled to Voss for an internal workshop. Topics covered included the Time Charter inspection regime, inhibited cargoes, follow-up lists, blending, and additives.

“It is an important event. It gives them the opportunity to meet in person and share their experiences and challenges,” said Team Leader MSG Nils B. Tofterå.

Reflecting on the week, Manager Business Support Fredrik Larsen added, “All in all, a good seminar. We plan to run the same program next year and will allocate additional time for TC admin and external management.”
