AI chatbot launch supports safer, smarter workdays

28.04.2025
Odfjell has launched a new AI-powered chatbot in Microsoft Teams, offering employees faster access to internal information across multiple systems. This timely project aligns with this year’s theme for the World Day of Safety and Health at Work, which explores the role of AI and digitalization in promoting workplace safety and efficiency.

The chatbot currently connects to:

  • Docmap—For locating procedures and operational documents from IT, Tankers, and Ship Management
  • HR Employee Guides—Covering policies and guidelines for colleagues in Manila, Bergen, and Singapore
  • IT Support—Offering solutions based on the IT knowledge base for common issues
  • Insite and Odfjell.com—Providing access to internal news and public company information

Available 24/7 via desktop, tablet, or mobile, the chatbot allows employees to ask questions in natural language and receive quick, relevant responses. The initial release focuses on Corporate and Tankers, with more data sources to follow.

Where to find the chat bot

The AI chatbot is available in Teams. Look for the ‘Odfjell Chatbot' icon in the vertical menu:

If you don't see the app in your Teams menu, click on the ‘Apps’ icon and type ‘Odfjell Chatbot’ in the search field:

Chatbot naming contest draws strong interest across offices

As part of the chatbot launch, a naming contest was held to give employees a chance to shape the identity of the new tool. Submissions were accepted until April 22, 2025, with participants invited to propose a name and briefly explain their reasoning.

The winning entry will be revealed on April 28, where the selected name will be officially introduced. The employee behind the chosen entry will receive a pair of AirPods Pro2 as a token of appreciation.
