A week in Brazilian colors: Odfjell welcomes delegates and showcases sustainability work

04.07.2025
It was a week marked by high-level visits and cross-continental collaboration, as Odfjell welcomed Brazilian government and industry leaders to Norway mid-June.

In Bergen, President Flumar Knut Øvrebø, CTO Torger Trige, CCO Bjørn Hammer, and VP Technology Erik Hjortland hosted Admiral Wilson Lima Filho for a working lunch.

Later that day, Øvrebø, Hjortland, and Managing Director Terminals Adrian Lenning welcomed a delegation that included the National Secretary of Ports and Waterways, the CEO and Director of the Brazilian Terminals Association (ABTP), and the CEO of the Port Authority of Rio Grande do Sul.

The meetings centered on Odfjell’s ongoing decarbonization work and operational developments, with a special focus on activities in South America.

The engagement continued in Oslo, where CEO Harald Fotland spoke at the Brazil-Norway Dialogue on Climate and Environment, held at the Brazilian Embassy. Following the event, Harald returned to Bergen to join a reception co-hosted by Odfjell, Rederiet, and Granel Quimica. The evening brought together a 60-member delegation from ABTP and representatives from both Brazilian and Norwegian government offices.

During the reception, Harald presented Odfjell’s corporate story and strategic direction, while Manager Research and Development Veine Huth highlighted the company’s sail project–an example of how technology is being used to advance sustainability in shipping.

The two-day program reflected the continued strengthening of Brazil-Norway maritime relations and Odfjell’s long-term commitment to responsible operations in South America.
