As the event approached, excitement filled the office, with everyone looking forward to celebrating this milestone. The opportunity to dress up added to the sense of occasion, making the evening all the more memorable.
Upon arrival, colleagues were greeted with a welcome drink and a chance to capture the moment with a photo in front of the photo wall. The elegant venue provided a perfect setting for the celebration.
Kicking off the evening, CFO Terje Iversen shared his reflections on Odfjell’s growth over the years. In a humorous nod to the times, he suggested a new slogan: "MEGA – Make EBITDA Great Again", which lightened the mood and brought smiles to the crowd. He concluded with a toast to Odfjell’s seafarers, acknowledging their vital role in the company’s success:
“I just want to remind ourselves, that we all are here for a reason, which is to support our Seafarers. 1800 colleagues in total, every day sailing around with our vessels, often with dangerous cargo, often under harsh conditions, and being away from their families for long periods at a time. Therefore, I propose a toast for our most valuable assets – our seafarers.“
Master of Ceremonies David Genius then guided the evening’s program with clever storytelling. He highlighted key moments from Odfjell’s history, adding a fun twist by featuring Odfjell’s own Inger Karin as a recurring character. The live band, with hits from each decade, set the tone for sing-alongs and music nostalgia.
A memorable highlight was the slideshow showcasing photos of Odfjell’s employees over the years. These images brought back memories and gave everyone a chance to reflect on how far the company has come. As Senior Charterer, Casper Magnus, pointed out,
“It was interesting to see some of our colleagues against the yellow woodwork and patterned curtains, and realize just how much the company has changed over the years.”
After dinner, the celebration continued with dancing and a chance for colleagues to connect in a more relaxed setting. Reflecting on the evening, Terje commented:
“It’s been a great evening, and much of that is thanks to the hard work of the planning committee. Their attention to detail ensured that everything went smoothly and everyone had a good time.”
