Captain Miller Ilagan, who first sailed with Odfjell as an Able Bodied Seaman in 1993, delivered a speech on behalf of all the awardees. He looked back at the challenges and opportunities that came his way through the years until he became a captain in 2008. He also thanked his colleagues from both sea and shore, as well as his family, for all the support he has received in the past 25 years of his career. Ilagan also acknowledged the sacrifices of his fellow awardees.
Mrs. Alma Cahutay, wife of Bosun Jesus Cahutay, Jr., paid tribute to the awardees through a heartfelt speech. She thanked the dedicated seafarers for all their hard work and sacrifices that not only put food on the table, but also assured a better life for their families. She also acknowledged the fellow wives for the strength they displayed in keeping their respective families together while their husbands are away.
